What it covers
Field audits do not arise by chance — they follow measurable figures drawn from the business’s own data. The seminar shows which values the tax administration analyses, how they come about and how a business can recalculate them from its own figures. It covers the summary risk assessment, the partial audit simulation, chi-squared and modal-value analyses and the weekly-value analysis. The aim is not to alter any figure but to know it and be able to evidence where it comes from: a figure that stands out is rarely wrong — it is usually unexplained, and an explanation backed by evidence counts for more before the first contact than any discussion afterwards.
Programme
- Forensic analysis and simulation. Quantitative clarification of the facts and proactive audit preparedness.
- Audit indicators as a preventive instrument. The tax administration's selection mechanisms and how to steer them deliberately.
- Implementation without heavy effort. Moving from actual to target state with a lean routine in day-to-day practice.
- Structured analysis of the accounts. Revenue and purchasing accounts, identifying discrepancies.
- Summary risk review in practice. Reproducing the official results and improving on the method.
- Digital visualisation. Graphical presentation, weekly value analysis, spotting outliers.
- Statistical procedures. Chi-squared, modal-value analysis, manipulation patterns and the limits of their evidential value.
- Risk management in proportion. An early warning system and clear priorities instead of activity for its own sake.
Who it is for
- Tax advisers, auditors, specialist staff
- Lawyers specialising in tax and commercial law
- Business owners in audit-prone sectors
- Specialist auditors and internal auditors
What you will be able to do
- Follow how the summary risk assessment works
- Recognise which figures of your own business an audit would draw on
- Run a partial audit simulation on your own data
- Apply chi-squared and modal-value analyses correctly and place what they can show
- Use the weekly-value analysis to find outliers and unusual entries
- Look for the operational cause of every deviation in the data and evidence it
- Tell apart the anomalies that can be explained from those that stand
- Build a line of proof that refutes unfounded audit assumptions
